Thrive’s September monthly delivery specials included beef and beans which normally makes me think of taco soup, but I decided to do something new and go with a yummy and EASY chili mac recipe for this month. It was a hit with my family so I hope you like it too!

Chili Mac Recipe (Meal-in-a-Jar)

Don’t forget all ingredients will be cheaper and are available for free shipping for delivery customers if your order is over $100. One quart-size jar will make 3-4 servings.

Jar Ingredients:

  • 1/4 c. Thrive Chopped Onions
  • 2 T. Thrive Green Chili Peppers
  • 1/2 c. Thrive Sweet Corn
  • 1/2 c. Thrive Instant Black Beans
  • 1/2 c. Thrive Ground Beef
  • Noodles from 1 box Kraft Macaroni and Cheese

In a separate baggie:

  • Cheese powdered from Kraft Macaroni and Cheese
  • 2 T. Thrive Instant Milk
  • 2 T. Thrive Tomato Sauce Powder
  • 1 T. Chili Powder
  • 1 tsp. Seasoned Salt
  • 1/2 tsp. Pepper

Directions:

To make jar: Add all ingredients to a quart-sized jar in order listed. If putting in reverse order you can add heaping servings. Put the powder ingredients in a separate zip-lock baggie and stick into the top of the jar. (Wide-mouth jars are best for this recipe). Add an oxygen absorber or seal with a foodsaver jar lid attachment.

To prepare: Bring 6 cups of water to a boil in a medium-sized pot. Remove baggie from jar and pour remaining ingredients into pot. Let simmer for 10 minutes or until beans are softened. Drain off any remaining water and return items to the pot. Add the contents of the baggie to the mixture and stir. Add 1/2 cup of hot water and stir until all the powder is mixed in. Top with shredded cheese, tortilla strips, sour cream, or anything else to your liking!

These recipes are convenient to me because they use ingredients that I can buy, thus making sure of the actual ingredients: that there are no unwanted/toxic/unhealthy/bad for me/ ingredients.
SO, the Kraft macaroni and cheese box makes this not good for me.
I can use the FD foods, spices, but not commercial, store bought ingredients that contain unwanted ingredients.
Hoping the other recipes in this “series” contain no store bought commercial ingredients.
      Thank you
