July Cooking Demo Replay – PIZZAS AND PIES
HOMEMADE PIZZAS
Mix and match your favorite pizza toppings to create pizza at any time!
Ingredients
2 pre-made pizza crusts (or homemade if desired)
Thrive Tomato Sauce
BBQ Sauce
Thrive Mozzarella Cheese
Thrive Sausage or Chicken
Thrive Onions
Thrive Green Peppers
Thrive Pineapples
Directions:
For this recipe I made two separate pizzas but you could always do half and half. I used two small pre-made crusts but you can make your own or do one large crust or whatever suits your fancy. Hydrate enough cheese to cover your pizza. You can pour water over cheese in a tupperware a little at a time and tumble it until it is all absorbed and cheese is soft. Store in fridge until ready to use.
Supreme Pizza: Mix about 1/4 cup of Tomato Sauce with water until it reaches the consistency of pizza sauce. I like it to be a little bit on the thicker side. Cover pizza with red sauce. Sprinkle cheese over top. Rehydrate sausage, onion slices, and green peppers and then sprinkle on top of the cheese. Add fresh pepperoni if desired. Cook according to crust directions or until cheese is golden brown!
Barbecue Chicken Pizza: Cover the crust with BBQ sauce of your choosing. Sprinkle cheese over top. Rehydrate chicken, onions, and pineapple and then sprinkle on top of the cheese. Add a little more BBQ sauce on top. Cook according to crust directions or until cheese is golden brown!
PIZZA CASSEROLE
This can be made as a meal-in-a-jar if you want to make a bunch of them up at a time, or you can just make the casserole any time you want.
Ingredients:
1/2 c. Thrive Tomato Sauce
3/4 c. Thrive Sausage
1/4 c. Thrive Sliced Onions
1 1/2 c. Rotini Pasta
2 c. of Water
1 c. Thrive Mozzarella Cheese
Fresh Pepperoni, optional
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pour all contents except mozzarella cheese into a 9×9 square baking dish. Stir well. Bake 20 minutes and then stir. Meanwhile pour cheese onto a plate covered in a few layers of paper towels. Drizzle water over cheese until it hydrates. Sprinkle the hydrated cheese over the casserole, add fresh pepperoni if desired and cook for another 15-20 minutes or until cheese is golden brown. Let stand a few minutes before serving.
DESSERT PIZZA
This is another idea that can be customized to your liking and varied based on what’s on sale. I used strawberries for July but I really want to try a version with peaches and a streusel topping. Yum!
Ingredients:
Nutella
Thrive Strawberries
Thrive Vanilla Yogurt Bites
Fresh Mint Leaves
Almond Slices
Nan Bread
Directions:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Spread a thick layer of Nutella over nan bread. Rehydrate strawberries in a ziplock bag. Sprinkle softened strawberries and all remaining ingredients on top of the bread. Bake for 5-10 minutes or until toastie!
SHEPHERD’S PIE
This hearty, family-favorite recipe is so easy to make when you use Thrive. What normally takes at least an hour to prepare can be whipped up in just 5-10 minutes. Feel free to make a double-batch for a bigger family and cook in a 9×13 pan.
Ingredients:
1/2 c. Thrive Tomato Sauce
2 tsp. Thrive Italian Seasoning
1 tsp. Thrive Beef Bouillon
1 T. Thrive Garlic
2 T. Thrive Chopped Onions
1/3 c. Thrive Green Beans
1 c. Thrive Sausage
2 c. Thrive Mashed Potatoes
1/2 tsp. Salt
2 T. Thrive Instant Milk (optional)
1 c. Thrive Cheddar Cheese
Directions:
Combine first 7 ingredients with 2 cups of water in a medium saucepan. Simmer until thickened. Pour into a square 8×8 baking dish. In a separate pot, bring 2 1/2 cups of water to a boil, add potatoes, salt, and instant milk. Stir well until smooth. Add potato mixture over the top of the meat mixture. Refresh cheese in a separate container and sprinkle on top of the potatoes. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
CHOCOLATE PUDDING PIE
Instant Milk is still on sale for 50% off so
Ingredients:
1 pre-made oreo pie crust (or home-made if desired)
2 (3.4 oz) pkg. Instant Chocolate Pudding and Pie Filling Mix
2 1/2 c. Cold Water + 3/4 Thrive Instant Milk Powder
1 8 oz container Cool Whip, thawed
Directions:
Mix water and Instant Milk Powder together and refrigerate until cold. Whisk pudding and milk together until smooth. Wait until thickened up. Pour half of the mixture into the pie pan. Fold cool whip into remaining pudding. Add on top of pudding layer in crust. Refrigerate several hours before serving.
STRAWBERRY JELLO PIE
Another yummy pie recipe, this one will be a fan-favorite at pot-lucks this summer!
Ingredients:
1 9″ Frozen Pie Crust (or homemade if desired)
1 c. Sugar
1 1/2 c. Water
1/4 c. Cornstarch
1 pantry can Thrive Strawberries, rehydrated
1 3 oz pkg Strawberry Jello
Directions:
Bake pie crust according to package directions, remove from oven and let cool. Powder 1/4 c. of strawberries for garnish and set aside. Rehydrate the rest of the strawberries in a ziplock bag. In large saucepan add sugar and water and heat over medium heat. Slowly whisk in your cornstarch to incorporate well, make sure you don’t have any lumps. Stir continuously for about 4-5 minutes until the mixture thickens and turns a little clear. Remove from heat and whisk in your strawberry jello until completely dissolved, let cool to room temperature. Once cooled, add in your rehydrated strawberries (drained) and toss to coat evenly. Pour into prepared pie crust. Place in refrigerator to set for about 2-3 hours. Dollop with whipped cream if desired.
