Treats & Eats March Cooking Demo

This month’s live cooking demo featured FIVE great recipes including soups, a smoothie, and some sweets. There is a flash sale for St. Patrick’s Day from March 16-20 so we featured a bonus recipe using some of those ingredients too. Here are the details for the flash sale.

Green Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:
2 T. Thrive Kale (FLASH SALE)
1/2 c. Thrive FD Zucchini (FLASH SALE)
1/2 c. Thrive FD Peaches (ON SALE)
1/4 c. Thrive FD Apricots (FLASH SALE)
1/4 c. Thrive FD Pineapple (ON SALE)
1/2 c. Thrive FD Bananas
1 c. Water
4-5 Ice Cubes

Directions:
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.


Butternut Squash Soup Recipe

Ingredients:
8 1/2 c. water
3 c. Thrive FD Butternut Squash (ON SALE)
1/4 c. Thrive FD Chopped Onions
1/4 c. Thrive FD Celery
1/2 c. Thrive Carrot Dices
1/4 tsp. Thrive Chefs Choice
1/4 c. Brown Sugar
1 tsp. Iodized Salt
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
1 c. Thrive Béchamel (Creamy White Sauce)
1/2 c. Heavy Cream

Directions:
Combine all ingredients except cream and bechamel in a pot and simmer for 10 minutes. Add soup in small batches to a blender and blend smooth. Place back into a clean pot. Add the cream and bechamel to soup and bring to a simmer for 2 minutes. Allow to rest and serve.


Beef Stew Recipe

Ingredients:
1/3 c. Thrive Espagnole Gravy
1 T. Thrive Beef Bouillon
1 tsp. Chef’s Choice Thrive Seasonings
3 T. Thrive FD Chopped Onions
2 T. Thrive FD Corn
1/2 c. Thrive FD Mushrooms (ON SALE)
1/2 c. Thrive FD Green Beans (ON SALE)
3/4 c. Thrive FD Potato Dices
1 c. Thrive FD Beef Dices (ON SALE)

Directions:
In a large saucepan bring 7 cups of water to a boil. Add contents of jar and let simmer for 40 minutes or until barley and potatoes are soft. Stir occasionally. Add salt and pepper to taste, serve with your favorite biscuits or rolls.

Granny Cake

Cake Ingredients:
1/2 c. Thrive FD Pineapple (ON SALE)
3/4 c. Thrive FD Peaches (ON SALE)
1 c. Flour (can use gluten-free)
1 tsp. Baking Soda
3/4 c. White Sugar
2 T. Thrive Scrambled Egg Mix

Icing Ingredients:
1/4 c. Butter
1/3 c. Thrive Instant Milk Powder
1/3 c. Brown Sugar
1/2 c. Sweetened Coconut Flakes

Directions:
In a medium bowl combine peaches and pineapple with 1 cup of water and let stand for 15 minutes. Add remaining cake ingredients and let stand another 15 minutes. Pour into a greased 9×9 pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until cooked through thoroughly. You can cover with foil if edges are getting too brown. In a small saucepan mix contents of jar 2 with 1/2 cup of water. Bring to a boil and boil for 2 minutes. Slice cake and spoon sauce over the individual pieces of cake.

Peach Pie Recipe

Ingredients:
1 pie crust (unbaked)
2 c. Thrive FD Peaches (ON SALE)
1 c. Heavy Cream
2/3 c. White Sugar
3 T. Cornstarch
1 tsp. Vanilla
1/8 tsp. Salt

Directions:
Combine peaches with 4 cups of water and let sit for 30 minutes or until softened. Spoon the peaches into bottom of the prepared pie crust. Combine the remaining ingredients in a medium bowl and pour over top of the peaches. Bake at 375 degrees for 60 minutes or until pie is set. Cover edges with foil if they are getting too brown. Let pie stand for a few hours at room temperature to allow it to thicken up. Eat and enjoy!
