Thrive’s January monthly delivery specials didn’t seem to have a lot of ingredients for a regular “meal” so I thought it would be fun to try making a dessert-in-a-jar this month! I have really been wanting to try butter powder to make a pie crust … the consensus is it works! Hope you enjoy this Fruit Galette Recipe.
Fruit Galette Recipe ((Dessert-in-a-Jar)
All ingredients will be cheaper and are available for free shipping for delivery customers if your order is over $100. A quart-sized jar will make a dessert that will serve 2-3 people.
Jar Ingredients:
Baggie #1
3/4 c. All-Purpose Flour
1/2 tsp. Kosher Salt
1/2 T. White Sugar
1/3 c. Thrive Butter Powder
Baggie #2
1/2 C. All-Purpose Flour
Baggie #3
1/4 c. White Sugar
1/2 T. Cornstarch
1/4 tsp. Cinnamon
Straight in Jar
1 c. Thrive Peaches, broken into small chunks
1/2 c. Thrive Strawberries
1/4 c. Thrive Blueberries
Directions:
To make jar: Combine the ingredients into small ziplock bags or wrap tightly in saran wrap. Label each bag with a 1, 2, or 3. Smash the baggies to one side of the jar or in the bottom of the jar depending on how they fit best. Add the peaches, strawberries, and blueberries. This recipe works easier in a wide-mouth jar to fit all the baggies in.
To prepare: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Pour fruit into a medium-sized bowl and remove all baggies from jar. Add 1/2 cup of water to the fruit bowl and stir. Let the fruit refresh while you prepare the crust, stirring occasionally. Pour contents of baggie #1 into a food processor and pulse a few times. Add 1/3 cup of ice water and pulse until dough is clumpy. Add contents of baggie #2 and pulse until dough looks grainy. Pour dough into a medium bowl and add 3-4 more tablespoons of water one at a time. Stir between each spoonful and test if it holds together when pinched before you add more water. Once the dough is able to hold together, roll into a ball. Place onto a floured surface and roll into a 10 inch circle. Place crust onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Add contents of baggie #3 to the fruit bowl and stir well. Scoop the fruit into a thin layer in the center of the crust. Fold the edges in and pinch the seems so they stay folded in. Brush the edges with milk or cream and sprinkle with a little additional sugar if desired. Bake at 400 for 25-30 minutes. Enjoy hot with ice cream or whipped cream on top!
