Vegetable Beef Stew Meal-in-a-Jar

Vegetable Beef Stew Meal-in-a-Jar

Meals-in-a-Jar
I love having quick, healthy, delicious meals on hand to make on busy nights. Cooking with Thrive has made my life so much easier with all the time I save on thawing, chopping, and prepping my food. Recently I've taken it even a step further and put together pre-measured meals that I put into a ziplock bags or jars (I like to make 5-10 of one meal at a time since I already have all the cans out anyway). Then when I need dinner in a hurry, I just pour the contents of the jar into a pot of water, simmer for a few minutes and dinner is a go! Here is a sneak peek at one of the recipes found in our Meal-in-a-Jar eCookbook. The beef slices are on…

Beans and Rice … Rice and Beans

Beans and Rice … Rice and Beans

Dinners
If any of you are familiar with The Dave Ramsey Show, you'll know that he is an advocate of being thrifty while trying to get out of debt. One of his favorite sayings is that if you are trying to cut back on expenses you can cut your grocery budget by only eating "beans and rice ... and rice and beans". Today I'm going to show you how you can feel like you are eating a gourmet meal by adding just a few Thrive ingredients and a few items from your pantry to really make those rice and beans pop. You can get these ingredients and full color recipe cards (7 complete recipes of 4-6 servings) as part of the Taste of Thrive Intro Pack or you can use what…

Raw Cashew Dream Pie

Raw Cashew Dream Pie

Desserts
I've been attempting to cook healthier lately and minimizing things like refined flour and sugar. I love learning about eating raw foods and a more plant-based diet, however that doesn't always work well with my little ones. So I have been browsing around for healthy recipes that I can enjoy that are also popular with the kiddos. Surprise surprise the desserts seem to be the easiest for them to take a liking to. I've loved how I can use Thrive fruits and vegetables in so many of these healthy recipes to cut prep time down dramatically and to avoid having to run to the store as often to get fresh produce. Thrive has literally been a life-saver (or at least a diet-saver) for me. Without further ado, here is a…

Homemade Healthy Granola

Homemade Healthy Granola

Breakfast
I have tried a lot of different granola recipes, in varying levels of healthiness. I finally found what I believe to be the perfect granola recipe in the GreenSmoothieGirl.com's 12-steps to whole foods book which I've been working though this year. I make a big batch of this and store it in a tupperware on the counter for a week or two (if it lasts that long). I eat it as a snack or as a hearty healthy breakfast. Thrive's freeze-dried fruits are the perfect compliment to this basic staple and can be mixed and matched to make a wide variety of snacks or breakfast cereals. I am so in love with this I just had to share it. Hope you love it too! May I also introduce you to…

Missionary Meals in Bags

Missionary Meals in Bags

Meals-in-a-Jar
If you have been around the Internet at all this Christmas season you may have seen the #LIGHTtheWORLD campaign being promoted by our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). We blogged about how we are participating specifically at this blog post. This campaign hit close to home for me because my little sister is currently serving a mission for our church for 18 months and I am glad she is getting the chance to serve others while we are doing our own acts of service back home. The idea is to do something each day in December to serve in the same ways that Christ served when he was on the earth. It's really been amazing to see what everyone has been doing to Light the…

My family does weekly Sunday dinners at my mom's house and each of us brings an item to go along with the main dish that she will be cooking. We originally posted this on our Food Storage Made Easy blog but thought it would be fun to share it here too since it uses Thrive freeze-dried fruits. This patriotic jello is completely a "shelf stable" recipe if you use freeze-dried fruits in it. It also works perfectly fine with regular fruit and cool-whip. It's fun to know that you can make a creative and delicious treat for your family even if you are living completely off of food storage! Cauliflower and Mac and Cheese

Recipes
My 3rd son has broken me. Up until him I could get my kids to eat vegetables. My first ate them easily. My second ate them with some negotiating. But my 3rd just HATES them. As he has gotten older we've been able to work with him to eat more and more but he still rarely eats them without a fuss. I won't give up on him but in the mean time I've needed to do a little "sneaking" around here. My latest sneak is something I'm pretty excited about. He has no idea what's going on and I''m taking pride in this victory. So this idea was born from a book I got a few years ago and haven't done a lot with. It's by Jerry Seinfield's wife called…
