Instant Refried Beans (Thriving in our Kitchen)

Thrive in our Kitchen
Today we are featuring Thrive Life's Instant Refried Beans and showing you exactly how WE use them in our kitchens. This is such an easy product to use and we love that it has a VERY clean label. Instead of a bunch of oil and preservatives in a can of regular refried beans, all you get in this can is PINTO BEANS! In the video below Julie shares how to make easy bean burritos, perfect for simple lunches. We love that you can make just a SINGLE burrito without worrying about wasting the rest of a can of traditional refried beans. The bean flakes are also good as a salad or taco topping, or you can rehydrate them and add cheese for a delicious side dish or bean dip. Favorite…

Raw Cashew Dream Pie

Raw Cashew Dream Pie

Desserts
I've been attempting to cook healthier lately and minimizing things like refined flour and sugar. I love learning about eating raw foods and a more plant-based diet, however that doesn't always work well with my little ones. So I have been browsing around for healthy recipes that I can enjoy that are also popular with the kiddos. Surprise surprise the desserts seem to be the easiest for them to take a liking to. I've loved how I can use Thrive fruits and vegetables in so many of these healthy recipes to cut prep time down dramatically and to avoid having to run to the store as often to get fresh produce. Thrive has literally been a life-saver (or at least a diet-saver) for me. Without further ado, here is a…

Freeze-Dried Chicken (Thriving in our Kitchen)

Freeze-Dried Chicken (Thriving in our Kitchen)

Thrive in our Kitchen
Today we are featuring Thrive Life's Freeze-Dried Chicken and showing you exactly how WE use them in our kitchens. Being able to avoid thawing, chopping, and cooking chicken is the difference in being able to get dinner on the table in less than 20 minutes versus getting desperate and having to hit a fast food restaurant. Chopped Chicken vs Seasoned Chicken Slices Seasoned Chicken Slices are large chunks of chicken great for soups, Hawaiian haystacks, or any chicken marinade-type recipe where you want large chunks over rice, noodles, etc. These bigger pieces take longer to rehydrate so be aware of that or hydrate them before adding them to your sauce. Chopped Chicken contains small dices that are perfect to throw into casseroles, pasta sauces, chili recipes, to make chicken salad…

Homemade Healthy Granola

Homemade Healthy Granola

Breakfast
I have tried a lot of different granola recipes, in varying levels of healthiness. I finally found what I believe to be the perfect granola recipe in the GreenSmoothieGirl.com's 12-steps to whole foods book which I've been working though this year. I make a big batch of this and store it in a tupperware on the counter for a week or two (if it lasts that long). I eat it as a snack or as a hearty healthy breakfast. Thrive's freeze-dried fruits are the perfect compliment to this basic staple and can be mixed and matched to make a wide variety of snacks or breakfast cereals. I am so in love with this I just had to share it. Hope you love it too! May I also introduce you to…

Missionary Meals in Bags

Missionary Meals in Bags

Meals-in-a-Jar
If you have been around the Internet at all this Christmas season you may have seen the #LIGHTtheWORLD campaign being promoted by our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). We blogged about how we are participating specifically at this blog post. This campaign hit close to home for me because my little sister is currently serving a mission for our church for 18 months and I am glad she is getting the chance to serve others while we are doing our own acts of service back home. The idea is to do something each day in December to serve in the same ways that Christ served when he was on the earth. It's really been amazing to see what everyone has been doing to Light the…

For those of you out there who need things to be a little easier, or you aren't quite sure how to pull off some traditional Thanksgiving foods, make sure you watch some of the videos below. Who doesn't love attending a cooking class in their pj's on their computer! Rolls: One of my favorite Thrive items…
